University Anti-Bribery and Corruption Policy
I. Introduction

Sothern technical university is committed to conducting all its affairs and operations with the highest standards of ethical integrity and compliance with all applicable laws, including those relating to bribery and corruption. This policy outlines the University’s stance on preventing, identifying, and addressing bribery and corruption in its community.

2. Purpose
The purpose of this policy is to:
  • Set out the responsibilities of the University community in observing and upholding our zero-tolerance position on bribery and corruption.
  • Protect the University’s assets, reputation, and integrity.
  • Initiative 3: Establish scholarships specifically aimed at underrepresented groups.
3. Scope
This policy applies to all individuals working at all levels and grades, including senior officers, employees (whether permanent, fixed-term, or temporary), consultants, contractors, trainees, seconded staff, homeworkers, volunteers, interns, agents, sponsors, or any other person associated with us, or any of our subsidiaries or their employees, wherever located.
4. Definitions
  • Bribery: The offer, promise, giving, accepting, or soliciting of an advantage as an inducement for an action which is illegal, unethical, or a breach of trust.
  • Corruption: The abuse of entrusted power for private gain.
5. Policy
5.1 Compliance with the Law

Sothern technical university is committed to acting professionally, fairly, and with integrity in all its business dealings and relationships wherever it operates and implementing and enforcing effective systems to counter bribery and corruption.

5.2 University Responsibilities
The University will:
  • Keep an up-to-date risk assessment concerning its exposure to bribery and corruption.
  • Implement and maintain adequate procedures to prevent and detect bribery and corruption.
  • Provide information and training on how to recognize and deal with bribery and corruption.
  • Encourage its employees and others to be vigilant and to report any suspicion of bribery, providing secure means for such reporting.
  • Rigorously investigate instances of alleged bribery and corruption and assist police and other appropriate authorities in any resultant investigations.
  • Take firm and vigorous action against any individual(s) involved in bribery or corruption.
5.3 Personal Responsibilities
All individuals to whom this policy applies are required to:
  • Avoid any activities that could lead to, or imply, a breach of this anti-bribery and corruption policy.
  • Declare and keep a written record of all hospitality or gifts accepted or offered, which will be subject to managerial review.
  • Report any request or demand for any undue financial or other advantage of any kind received by them in connection with the performance of their university duties.
  • Be aware of and report any breaches of this policy.
5.4 Reporting Breaches

Sothern technical university aims for transparency and integrity in our operations. Should anyone covered by this policy feel that they have been offered a bribe, been asked to make one, suspect that this may happen in the future, or believe that they are a victim of another illegal or unethical activity, they are encouraged to report their concerns through [University’s Reporting Mechanisms].

6. Monitoring and Review

The [Compliance Office/Relevant Department] will monitor the effectiveness and review the implementation of this policy, regularly considering its suitability, adequacy, and effectiveness. Any improvements identified will be made as soon as possible.

7. Enforcement

Any individual involved in bribery will face disciplinary action and may face termination of employment or contracts and legal prosecution. The University will not conduct business with service providers, agents or representatives that do not support the University’s anti-bribery and corruption objectives
