Under the patronage of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Prof. Nabeel K. Abid Al-Sahib,

the Southern Technical University (STU) is organizing the 6th International Scientific Conference on Advanced Medical and Engineering Technologies (ISC-AMET 2022). The conference will be held on 7-8th December 2022 in Al Nasiriyah Technical Institute, Southern Technical University, Iraq, Nasiriyah with the collaboration of well recognized International and national Professors and Scientists, reputable universities, and decent companies. This scientific event offers an exceptional platform and opportunity for practitioners, industry experts, academics, information scientists, innovators, postgraduate students, and researchers to share their experiences for the advancement of knowledge and obtain critical feedback on their works. The conference committees are working very hard to maintain high standards and quality of keynotes, presentations, scientific discussions, exhibitions, and workshops. The accepted papers after peer review will be considered for possible publication in specialized conference proceeding or reputable journals.

Al-Rubeai is an emeritus professor at the University College Dublin. Previously he was a professor at the University of Birmingham, UK. He was also an adjunct professor at the University of Queensland, Australia, University Technology of Malaysia, National University of Singapore, and East China University. He acted as a visiting professor at many universities.

He is the editor of “Cell Engineering”, was an editor of “Cytotechnology”, and member of the editorial board of several journals, co-author of “Engineering a Knowledge Island 2020”, member of Sigma-Aldrich and Vivalis advisory boards, consultant to the Pharmaceutical industry, fellow of the Conway Institute of Biomolecular & Biomedical Research, fellow of the National Institute for Bioprocessing Research and Training (NIBRT), fellow of the UK Society of Biology (FSB), adviser to UNESCO, Ministry of Higher Education, Iraq and the President of the Iraqi Republic, and recipient of many scientific awards, including the Donald Medal, SFI award and Asellus Prize.

He is the author of over 500 professional papers, reviews, books, book chapters, patents, and articles that reflect his broad interest in mammalian cell culture, production of biopharmaceuticals, tissue engineering, stem cell bioprocessing, and biomaterials.

Prof. Ahmed is a professor of advanced materials and nanotechnology. He received his BSc in Physics from Basrah University, Iraq, then his MSc and PhD from the University of Salford, UK. He was a visiting professor at the Faculty of Science, Engineering & Environment, University of Salford, UK, from 2004-2013. He is the founder and managing director of Idvac Ltd. He presented papers in more than 90 international conferences, has more than 95 scientific publications and a book entitled (Ion Plating Technology) published by Wiley & Sons in 1987. He has 5 patents and won 4 SMART awards from the UK Department of Trade & Industry. In March 2013, he won the UK Technology Strategy Innovation Award. In April 2013, he received the GPCA, Dubai, award for product innovation. In April 2014, he was a finalist in the ‘Talents in Plastics- Best Researcher’ category of GPCA Plastics Excellence Award. In December 2016 he was awarded the Excellence in Holography for product innovation from IHMA, UK. Prof. Ahmed is a regular speaker at the International Holography conference and he regularly runs international training workshops on nano-materials using vacuum and plasma technologies. He also conducts various research and development projects for industrial companies and research institutions. His main activities are in advanced and nano-materials for security, packaging, solar and other niche markets.
