The Studies and Planning Division at the Technical Administrative Institute – Basra held a workshop on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, entitled “Towards Internationally Accredited Education – Applying the Bologna Process at the Southern Technical University”, in the conference hall of the Institute’s Deanship.
the workshop, which was moderated by Eng. Sanaa Hassan Zboon, Head of the Studies and Planning Division, included a lecture by Assistant Lecturer Hamid Shaker Mahmoud, which addressed the mechanisms for implementing the Bologna Process in Iraqi university education. The workshop focused on the importance of this process in improving the quality of higher education.
And enhancing international recognition of Iraqi university degrees.
The workshop witnessed a distinguished presence, including Dr.ayad Abdul Khaliq, Director of the Scientific Affairs Department. And Dr. Iman Askar, in addition to a number of academic and administrative cadres from the Institute’s members
During the workshop, participants discussed a number of important topics, most notably:
. Standards for applying the Bologna Process in higher education.
. Challenges facing the application of these standards in Iraqi educational institutions.
. Practical steps that can be followed to achieve international accreditation.
The workshop also witnessed constructive discussions about the practical challenges and opportunities available for applying the Bologna Process standards in Iraqi universities, in addition to exchanging ideas on enhancing the position of the Southern Technical University in the international academic arena
At the conclusion of the workshop, the attendees stressed the need to continue joint efforts to develop the educational system in line with international standards, while praising the effective role of the Technical Administrative Institute in supporting educational initiatives aimed at achieving international accreditation and enhancing the quality of higher education in Iraq.
