In implementation of the directives of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the Presidency of the Southern Technical University and in accordance with the government program and its objectives in achieving sustainable development that preserves terrestrial ecosystems and combats desertification. The Services Unit, in cooperation with student teams and extracurricular activities committees at the Qurna Technical Institute, carried out a wide-scale afforestation campaign in the corridors of the scientific departments building, with the printing of a number of posters to highlight the importance of afforestation and environmental conservation
The campaign was supervised by agricultural engineer Sahera Yasin Hussein under the direction of the Dean of the Institute, Assistant Professor Dr. Hussein Abdullah Lafta. The campaign included planting perennial trees and seasonal plants, in addition to many types of flowers that are compatible with the various climatic conditions. This campaign is a continuation of previous campaigns held by the Institute throughout the year to take care of the gardens, trees and green spaces in them.
