The Women’s Empowerment Unit at the Technical College of Engineering, Maysan, within the Southern Technical University, held an awareness lecture on HIV/AIDS, in cooperation with the Health Department of Maysan Governorate. The lecture, in which Ms. Sari Mazen Kadhim and Professor Hashem Kadhim Hashem lectured, aimed to introduce the disease, the history of its spread, and the factors that helped its emergence. Cases of infection, the importance of awareness and awareness of its danger, and ways to prevent it, as well as spreading health awareness and reminding of the necessity of adhering to a health culture and conducting comprehensive periodic examinations. The workshop included topics including the symptoms of HIV and the ways in which it is transmitted, as well as methods of prevention, diagnosis, treatment and the virus that causes it, in addition to how to deal with infected patients from a psychological and social perspective, and the role of social workers in dealing with the patient. For his part, the Dean of the College, Professor Dr. Mahmood Aziz Mohammad, stressed the importance of such awareness lectures for all groups in society because they go into the details of their healthy lives, pointing out that the College has various scientific programs that include workshops, lectures, and educational and awareness seminars that focus on providing services to everyone.
