Amidst a large crowd, the Southern Governorates Futsal Universities Championship concluded with Al-Maqal University defeating Wasit University on penalties. The tournament, which took place at the Southern Technical University Stadium, was attended by 12 teams from various universities in the provinces of Basra, Thi Qar, Maysan, Wasit, and Muthanna, which was organized by the Scientific Supervision and Evaluation Department. Student activities were hosted by the Southern Technical University, along with the University of Wasit, Al-Kut University College, Al-Ain University, Sumer University, Iraq University College, and the National University of Science and Technology. In the final match, Al-Maqal University won over Wasit University on penalty shoot-out 3.2 after the end of the original time of the match with a score of 4.4 in an enthusiastic match characterized by competition, excitement, and abundance. The goals of the match witnessed a large audience presence that filled the stadium’s stands. This match was attended by the Director of the Activities Department at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Ammar Hamed, the Dean of the Technical College of Engineering, Basra, Professor Dr. Adnan Abdullah Ateeq, and many deans, professors, and sports figures.
