Under the patronage of His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, the Scientific Supervision and Evaluation Department, Student Activities Department, held the Southern Region Futsal Qualifying Championship, which was hosted by the Southern Technical University, along with the University of Wasit, Al-Kut University College, Al-Ain University, Sumer University, Iraq University College, and the National University of Science and Technology, with the participation of 12 A university distributed among the universities of the southern region of Basra,Thi Qar, Maysan, Wasit, and Muthanna. The opening ceremony witnessed a review of the participating teams and the chanting of the championship oath, after which Surat Al-Fatiha was read for the souls of the Iraqi martyrs, and the Iraqi national anthem was played. Assistant to the University President for Scientific Affairs, Professor Dr. Alaa Farid Abdul-Ahad, read the speech of the host university, in which he conveyed the greetings of the University President, Professor Dr. Rabiee Hashem. Al-Abbasi, indicating that student activities constitute an urgent necessity as they are part of international standards and indicate the growth and progress of the university. He pointed out that Iraqi universities attach exceptional importance to sports activity and are working to grow and develop it by rehabilitating the sports facility and making it suitable for all games. Abdul Ahad added that the Southern Technical University is Hosting this championship, it appreciates the role of those in charge of it and wishes everyone success and success. For his part, the representative of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Adnan Alwan Al-Aboudi, stressed in his speech that the first and primary goal of holding this championship is to highlight qualified sports competencies worthy of ascending to the podiums and are deserving of that.
