The Shatrah Technical Institute within the Southern Technical University discussed desertification, its causes and treatments. The discussion session in which the head of the Department of Plant Production Technologies, teacher Mohammad Bustan Hanoun, lectured, included highlighting the concept of desertification, what its cases are, and its most important types, as well as the most important reasons that encourage its occurrence, and identifying Basic treatments that limit its spread in agricultural lands and attention to vegetation cover using modern methods and methods of irrigation to preserve the quantities of available water. At the conclusion of its work, the discussion recommended following scientific methods to prevent the spread of desertification and the expansion of its area in reclaimed agricultural lands and the importance of optimal use. It touched on modern irrigation, including fixed pivot irrigation and drip irrigation. For his part, the Dean of the Institute, Professor Dr. Muwaffaq Abdul Aziz Al-Hasnawi, stated that this activity is among the activities that It was adopted by the Deanship of the Institute in conjunction with the activities of the Global Entrepreneurship Week, which the Institute was keen to organize with other scientific activities because it contributes to the scientific mission and goals established by the Shatrah Technical Institute.
