The Southern Technical University organized an awareness lecture and field exercise about fires and how to deal with them in cooperation with the Civil Defense Directorate in Basra Governorate.
The practice carried out at the Continuing Education Center included the process of extinguishing a fire created by solid materials, how to evacuate those affected, and how to treat contaminated land.
The Assistant President of the University for Administrative Affairs, Professor Dr. Mahmoud Salem, and a number of members of the university’s formations, attended the event. The Director of Training and Development, Colonel Tayseer Abd Ali, provided a comprehensive explanation of the theoretical and practical aspects of dangerous situations during fires. For his part, the Assistant Professor explained that this event and field practice are important in raising awareness. And occupational safety through evacuation operations, fire extinguishing and control, pointing out that the university has implemented many of these activities in most of its formations as they are part of its annual plans. Among the training and development aspects of the working personnel is the display of humiliation and preparedness to deal with emergency situations.
