The Faculty of Health and medical technologies within the Southern Technical University announced the establishment of the Department of physiotherapy techniques in the faculty starting from the academic year 2024/2023, and the duration of study in the department is four years during which the graduate will be awarded a bachelor’s degree in the specialty of physiotherapy techniques. The idea of establishing this department comes to the need of the labor market in hospitals, health centers and rehabilitation centers, as well as the urgent need to prepare medical staff with high scientific and practical efficiency, consistent with the scientific and technical technological development and commensurate with the need to provide full services and sound scientific care for patients, which enhance the modern scientific and technological aspects with high quality in society. For his part, the dean of the Faculty, Professor Dr. Majed Abdul Wahab Maatouk, explained that the development file is subject to evaluation and study of indicators related to the labor market, scientific requirements and specialized human resources, pointing to the importance of taking into account quality requirements and achieving the standard ratio of the numbers of students and teachers, explaining that this development is a gain for the University, the college and the province of Basra, through its outputs and the urgent need for it in the labor market..
