he Southern Technical University participated with a delegation that included the University’s assistant rector for scientific affairs, professor Dr. Alaa Farid Abdul-Ahad, and the director of the Continuing Education Center, Dr. Maher Taleb Abdul-Zahra, in the British Council workshop on the opening of Centers for performing IELTS exams at Iraqi universities, which came in coordination with the Department of missions and cultural relations at the Ministry of higher education and scientific research. The participation comes in light of the directives of the Ministry of higher education and research, which aims to raise the scientific sobriety in the English language for applicants for graduate studies inside and outside Iraq and raise the linguistic ability and capability of associates and non-associates, as well as trends in the internationalization of cultural, scientific and Research relations with foreign universities, associations and international scientific organizations, the Southern Technical University has initiated its readiness to open such centers there. It is hoped to communicate with the British Council and the ministry for the purpose of completing the administrative and technical requirements for this purpose
