In coordination between the studies and Planning Division of the Administrative Technical College within the Southern Technical University and the community police in Basra governorate, an awareness seminar on electronic extortion was organized in the presence of a team from the police command in the governorate. The seminar, which was attended by a group of students and associates, included the social effects of the phenomenon of electronic blackmail, as well as unethical methods of using social media improperly and harmfully, in addition to means and methods of preventing electronic blackmail. The seminar aims to introduce the goals of extortion and the main motives, including the material and utilitarian goal. The seminar concluded with ways to report such attempts and provide important tips to avoid becoming a victim of cyber extortion crimes
