Under the auspices of His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, and under the supervision of the Scientific Supervision and Evaluation Authority _ Student Activities Department, the table tennis and chess championships for Iraqi universities were launched at the Southern Technical University stadium, with the participation of 42 universities.
Assistant to the University President for Administrative Affairs, Prof. Dr. Mahmood Salem Thamer opened the tournament activities with a speech in which he welcomed the participants, both male and female, in the university, wishing everyone success .
Pointing out that student activities constitute a great priority in the education curriculum and its lofty goals, stressing that university sports have a great weight in providing national teams with important youth energies.
It is noteworthy that this tournament, which is held on the playgrounds of the Southern Technical University, lasts for five days, as it was attended by representatives of the sports federations of the game, as well as representatives of the participating universities, in addition to a wide audience of students.
