Researchers from the Southern Technical University submitted a study on financial solutions for environmental protection and environmental improvement against pollution to the Environmental Protection and Improvement Department in the southern region. The study presented by the Director of the Administrative and Financial Affairs Department, Mr. Ayman Raheem Abdulaali, and the instructor, Ruqaya Adil Adulhamza, in addition to the instructor, Shaimaa Jassim Tuman, included the problem of pollution of the various components of the environment as a result of neglect, corruption and wars that spanned for decades and threatened its sustainability and the safety of its resources. As well as the most important authorities concerned with protecting the environment in Iraq and financial solutions. The study aims to identify the competent authorities to protect and improve the environment and to find financial solutions to protect it, such as the mechanism of environmental collection rules and environmental punitive measures represented in financial fines for the purpose of reducing pollution and compensating for the damage caused. The study concluded that the environmental authorities shall be given full powers and shall be provided with experts and specialists in environmental affairs to develop real treatments and the General Commission for Taxes shall be provided with data and reports to show the quantity and volume of pollutants that periodically result from the activities of companies, laboratories and other establishments. As well as seeking to overcome obstacles to the application of environmental tax.
