As part of his curriculum for the follow-up and development of work in accordance with the vision and goals set by the Southern Technical University, the president of the university, Prof. Dr. Rabie Hashem Thajil Al-Abbasi, began his work at a lower position as a dean for the Basra Technical Institute.
He began his work by meeting department officials , at the Technical Institute, where he directed his Excellency the necessity of following up on maintenance work in all parts of the Institute, in addition to obligation to the official working hours and submitting the required inventory during the time period requested by the higher administrative references.
He stressed the need to establish sports, artistic and cultural activities, as they are no less important than the scientific aspects that students need in their academic study.

The President of the University then proceeded to a meeting with the heads of departments at the Institute. He welcomed them, and emphasized the importance of preparing for the current academic year with the start of registering first-stage students, discussing with them the administrative and scientific structure, praising its importance to the academic departments.
