Success Story: The College of Engineering, Basra, Holds a Scientific Conference on Artificial Intelligence Applications to Achieve Sustainable Development Goals.

Under the patronage of the President of the Southern Technical University, Prof. Dr. Adnan Abdullah Atiq, and with direct supervision from the Dean of the College of Engineering, Basra, Prof. Dr. Leila Blasim Hashem, the Department of Control and Automation Engineering at the college held a pioneering scientific conference titled: “Applications of Artificial Intelligence to Achieve Sustainable Development Goals”.

The conference was opened with a valuable speech by the University President, in which he praised the efforts contributing to a correct sustainable development process based on modern scientific foundations, supporting any initiative the university undertakes in this field for the greater benefit of society.

The Dean of the College praised the efforts of those organizing the conference and the outstanding scientific performance presented by the conference committees: -Preparatory Committee -Scientific Committee -Media Committee

The first day of the conference included three quality lectures, while the second day featured two lectures, all presented by specialists. The conference concluded with the following recommendations:
     1-Investment in training and development.

    2-Innovation in scientific applications.

    3-Focus on ethics and transparency.

    4-Collaboration between humans and artificial intelligence.

    5-Preparation for changes in the labor market.

    6-Keeping pace with developments.

The President of the Conference (Head of the Department of Control and Automation Engineering), Prof. Dr. Issa Ahmed Abd, spoke about the importance of the conference and the recommendations made, stating that artificial intelligence represents a qualitative scientific shift with major impacts on our lives today. He promised more scientific contributions that will serve the development process in our beloved Iraq.

The conference witnessed distinguished attendance from faculty members and students both from within the university and outside.
