The Follow-up Department at the Presidency of the Southern Technical University organized an awareness workshop on reducing the phenomenon of drug abuse, smoking, and illegal weapons, and the importance of restricting it to the state. The workshop, which was attended by representatives of the university’s formations in the governorates of Basra, Maysan, and Thi Qar, included the methods used to reduce the risks of deadly social ills, including drugs, and the correct methods for eliminating them. The workshop, which was attended by the Director of the Follow-up Department at the University Presidency, Mr. Ahmed Zidan, aims to develop successful plans aimed at creating a societal culture capable of following up and monitoring the phenomena that are reflected in society as a result of the dangers of drugs and the importance of confining weapons to the state. It is noteworthy that the university formed a committee – follow-up, studies, planning, and graduate studies, as well as educational guidance and follow-up officials in the formations, to hold seminars and awareness workshops for this purpose.
