The Southern Technical University has participated in a workshop on the Iraqi Youth Project against misinformation, which organized by Mercy Corps International in Erbil as part of a four-month program. Assistant President of the University for Administrative Affairs, Prof. Dr. Mahmoud Salim Thamir, has said that the university has participated to support the project by providing halls and logistical capabilities, as well as specialized trainers in this specialty. As he has pointed out that, the project is in its final stages, the university students will be involved in this project later. Moreover, He has emphasized the importance of these projects in spreading environmental awareness and confronting inaccurate news and rumors about vaccines against the Corona virus (COVID-19). Remarkably, the local government of Basra and Neinawa governorates, in addition to a representative of the community police, have attended the workshop.
