About the Department

The department of scientific affairs was established in 2014, in the same year were our university was established. The department is linked directly to the Vice President for Scientific affairs and it consists of two divisions and one committee, which is called (Production Activities). The department has submitted more than 3 studies to the Ministry during the Foundation Year.

The department is responsible of developing plans and programs related to the development of scientific research of faculty members. As well as assuring the scientific aspect through university degree, and research development, and supervising the organization of conferences and seminars held by the University.

The organizational chart of the divisions and committees of the Department of Scientific Affairs

Objectives:

1- Disseminate the approved system of scientific research plan for scientific researches (planned, completed, and published).

2- Send the formations’ responses periodically as quarterly status and continuously to the Ministry every (3) months.

3- Follow up the pioneering research projects contracted with the Ministry.

4- Follow-up plans and completion of the work of (research units and research centers) and their annual plans.

5- Inform the researchers of the Ministry’s notifications related to pioneer research and raise the proposed projects to the Department of Research and Development at the Ministry.

6- Circulating the conferences and seminars received from the ministry to all university formations.

7- Follow-up of conferences, seminars and workshops that are planned or completed, through the “Neduti” program. In addition to that, the execution and implementation of ratification as well as the not scheduled scientific activities (not included in the above plan).

8- Follow-up Full-time study for students outside and inside Iraq, and a one-day assignment according to forms prepared for this purpose.

9- Follow-up programs to develop the cadres.

10- Follow-up research published in local and international scientific journals inside and outside Iraq, as well as the published research that has a high impact factor and send them to the ministry.

11- Follow-up a program to develop research and scientific achievements.

12- Developing and equipping university laboratories (laboratory equipment and supplies) within the program (infrastructure).

13- Follow up on the consolidation, compilation and translation of methodological and assistance books.

14- Follow-up of the Patent Awards, Science Day and Awards from outside Iraq, and the mechanism of honoring them.

Objectives:

1- Overture the University colleges and Institutes to provide the Division with all scientific outputs, including patents.

2- Provide all facilities required for researchers and embrace them to adopt their research and scientific projects and ideas.

3- Coordination for the establishment of specialized workshops between producers and beneficiaries, to market products and establish investment programs.

4- Preparing a database for the beneficiaries of the scientific output and presenting it on the university website.

5- Establishing public and specialized exhibitions for scientific products.

6- Coordination with government departments and civil society organizations for the marketing of scientific products.

7- Follow up the work of the advisory and scientific offices and the mechanism of cooperation and issuing orders to establish them.

8- Authentication of contracts and follow-up the reports of laboratory tests.

9- Send the data of the consultancy offices annually to the ministry.

10- Preparing the minutes of the meetings of the production activities committee.

Objectives:

1- Follow up the work of the advisory and scientific offices and issuing orders to establish them.

2- Supervising the mechanism of cooperation between the university and other ministries, and those which are not affiliated with the Ministry.

3- Contract Authentication.

4- Follow up the reports of laboratory tests according to the Central Labor Code and send copies to the ministry.

5- Editing books and responding to communications received from the ministry, colleges, institutes and other state departments.

6- Submit the system of data of consultancy offices annually to the Ministry and according to their request.

7- Prepare the central system for joint work with other sectors, which is periodically requested every three months and sent it to the ministry.

8- Monitor the annual accounts of the consulting offices annually and audit them and prepare an annual report in coordination with the Department of monitoring and Internal Audit and submit it to the University Council.

9- Insert the productive works data which are executed and approved by the university into the computer.

10- Prepare a record “Minutes of the meeting” for the committee meeting, which contains all (Advisory Offices, and Committees of Cooperation Mechanism). The decisions shall be circulated to colleges and institutes after the approval of the President of the University on the record.

11- Holding periodic meetings which through works sent by formations are being presented.

12- Refer the work and contracts to the concerned departments and according to the nature of the work to be studied by the department managers at the university and record the notes on each case before presenting them to the committee.
